We have more than 18″ of new snow and many of the trails are open. This could be you. Take a ride from the lodge; we have easy access to the ITS and we are serving great winter suppers in Chloe’s pub on Friday & Saturday nights. Directly out the lodge pub, overlooking the lodge view of Moosehead Lake and surrounding mountains, a new fire pit was completed. Now guests can enjoy the ambiance of a fire while gazing at our magnificent view. See for yourself, visit the Lodge soon.

The Lodge hosted a Labor Day picnic for guests . According to Ron & Shirley, from Newfield, ME “As for the picnic, games were a good touch and much appreciated; food was excellent; and the setting was superb.Thanks for a memorable experience.” The menu included all you can eat buffalo burgers, bbq baby back ribs, salads and the Ultimate Brownie – not to mention our home-brewed Pineapple Margaritas.
Plan 4th of July and/or Labor Day at the Lodge and enjoy a special treat.

Found in the basement of the carriage house was the copper moose without his antlers. Dennis welded the antlers, polished him up and fixed the base. Now it is back where it belongs, looking out over Moosehead Lake and directing you to the sunset and wonders of the north woods.

A doe and her twin fawns make themselves at home this morning grazing on the lodge lawn…no wonder we’re loosing flowers!

Crayfish and spinach stuffed trout pan roasted over vegetable pancakes with lemon butter sauce is a new featured item at the Lodge, prepared by Chef Dennis, the owner. Fresh cut flowers from the Lodge gardens adorn the commons areas and dining room tables. Flowers include peonies, oriental lilies, sedum, callilepis, daisy, Russian comfrey, delphinium, iris, foxglove, globe thistle, cornflower, aster, lupine and many others.

Two travel writers from “Alright, I’m Wrong” spent a day and evening at the Lodge this week. They were from the southern Maine, Portsmouth, NH area. Moosehead Lake from a visitors seaplane ride looks like the head of a Moose. Can you see it? This picture was taken last week as a guest took a ride with Jack’s Air Service, right here in Greenville, Maine. The lake is 20 miles by 40 miles and is the largest instate lake east of the Mississippi River. Taking a seaplane ride is one of two very popular activities for vacationers. The other activity is of course a Moose Safari. Moose can also be spotted from the air, with a keen eye.

The Lodge opened for dinner service last night and is now open Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Columbus Day weekend in mid-October. Chef Abby Freethy kicks off the season with her Maine Lobster, Parsnip and Asparagus Dumplings, Grilled Filet of Beef, Crayfish & Spinach Stuffed Native Trout and many other Up North specialties.
